Our Work on the Sustainable Development Goals in Maldives
How the UN is supporting The Sustainable Development Goals in Maldives
In September 2015, 193 world leaders unanimously committed to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to achieve extraordinary things by 2030. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development calls on all nations to mobilize efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change, while ensuring that no one is left behind.
The SDGs are a call for action by all countries to promote prosperity while protecting the planet. They recognize that ending poverty must go hand-in-hand with strategies that build economic growth and address a range of social needs including education, health, social protection, and job opportunities, while tackling climate change and environmental protection. More important than ever, the goals provide a critical framework for COVID-19 recovery.
The United Nations in the Maldives is working closely with the Government and Maldivians across the country to support progress in achieving the SDGs.
