Thank you, Your Excellency, Co-chair for UNSDCF Joint Steering Committee,
Members of the committee from the Government and my fellow UN Country Team,
I am pleased to observe that we have had a fruitful discussion on the first year of the UNSDCF implementation and received constructive feedback in proceeding forward. As highlighted in the discussion, the role of JSC as the governing body is crucial in integrating a strategic feedback loop into the implementation and course correction for planned results achievement.
In 2024, we will reach the mid-way of implementing the UNSDCF, and it will be an opportunity update the UNSDCF and double down on the areas that need further focus in terms of implementation. I hope that the UN and Government leads around the table take the feedback on board and operationalize the advice received. In doing so, I look forward to more engagement from leads of Govt and UN throughout this year.
I request the UN and Government leads of the outcome groups to convene at least one discussion during 2023 of the outcome group with relevant UN agencies and Government stakeholders with the aim look for more synergies and accelerators for SDGs. Such a discussion will help to flag whether the annual joint workplans formulated for each of the outcome continues to live up to the ambition of the UNSDCF and the SDGs.
Once again, I convey my appreciation to the cooperation from the Government co-chair and his team at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for hosting and coordinating this meeting. I thank my fellow UN Country Team members, especially the Un chairs. I hope today is the first step to continued dialogue with MFA, Government and rest of the stakeholders on the UNSDCF and ways to focus on the SDG achievement in the remaining 7 years of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
Shukuriyya and thank you.
