UNICEF MALDIVES’ 7 FLAGSHIPS
UNICEF Maldives is dedicated to ensuring every child has the opportunity to survive, develop, and reach their full potential. The initiative "Respond Today for Tomorrow" outlines flagship projects aimed at creating a Maldives that is both child-friendly and ensures children are prepared for the future. The focus is on promoting the survival, development, and well-being of all children, regardless of their location or income level. The Maldives, despite being an upper-middle-income nation, faces challenges such as inequalities, child vulnerabilities, climate change impacts, and inefficiencies in social service provision. The COVID-19 pandemic, urbanization, tourism dependence, and infrastructural expansion have exacerbated issues, including reduced fiscal space, mental health concerns, disruptions in education, increased violence, and environmental degradation, making climate change a critical concern.
